Manu Biosphere Reserve 7 Days / 6 Nights

This Amazon trip is through the Manu Biosphere Reserve which concentrates most of the animal licks like the biggest Blanquillo Macaw lick and the famous Tapir lick on Maquisapayoj area, also lakes where we see the giant river Otters; in one of them is possible to fish piranhas. On this tour you have less time travelling on the boat and gives you  more options for animal watching and explore on the trails.

Through our expeditions and trips to Manu we promote the initiatives of indigenous communities in the tourism industry, in cooperation with local small businesses in the area and strengthen conservation projects and protection of local wildlife.

Choose expeditions and trips to Manu from 3 to 9 days, where you will have an adventure and experience life in nature, at the same time you will contribute to preserve the Manu National Park and its biosphere reserve.

Highlights

The Manu Biosphere Reserve is situated in the departments of Cusco and Madre de Dios in southeastern Peru. Its lowest point is located at 300 m, while its highest point – the summit of Apu Kañahuay – measures 3,800 m. The reserve includes 19 different habitat types, constituting one of the most diverse places for birds in the world with 860 different species identified. The population in the reserve amounts to 8,600 people, with numerous settlements of native communities including the Matsigueka, Yine, Harakmbut and Quechua.

Recommendations for the Manu Jungle Tour 4 Days

We would like to share with you our recommendations for how to have as little an impact upon the natural environment in Manu as possible during your visit.

1. Avoid using plastics that only have a short-term use. If plastic is necessary, like plastic bags to keep your clothes dry in, for example, try to buy bags that can be used again, either by you or the next tourist. If possible, don’t buy any drinks in plastic bottles, opting instead for glass bottles. If buying plastic bottles can’t be avoided, make sure the bottles will be returned to Cusco, handing them back to us for recycling.

2. Recycle camera/flashlight batteries. Cusco does not have a place to recycle batteries; if this is available to you back home, please take your batteries back with you and recycle them there. Where this is not possible, please leave the batteries with your guide or at our office in Cusco. We will store them, hoping in the future there will be the possibility of recycling them locally.

3. Respect our rules for disposal of garbage in bags for biodegradable and non-biodegradable garbage. Thank you!

4. Lower fuel emissions. Oftentimes the bugs and boats used for your transportation will also transport food or materials for the jungle lodges. We ask your understanding since in this way we can reduce the number of trips our bus and boats make, thereby reducing the gas used and the emissions from the motors.

If you have additional ideas you’d like to share, we’d be pleased to hear them and add them to this list!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Considering the uncontrollable forces of nature, the program could be subject to change at any time.
  • Manu is a tropical rainforest that has remained untouched due to its hidden location. This means that the program involves a lot of bus and boat travel (for a 5-day excursion). However, it also means that you are in a part of the Amazon rainforest that is unparalleled, with untouched flora and fauna.
  • Each group can contain people traveling for 3, 5, 7, or 9 days.
  • In our shared services, we will pick up our clients from their hotel as long as it is located in the center of the city.
  • The pickup and drop off times are referential, this will depend on the traffic on the streets or the delay of the other clients, our assistant will arrive on time to your hotel, but sometimes the transportation could be delayed a few minutes.
